Logical Reasoning basics
Under logical reasoning basics, we will understand the table usage and basic application part of applying logic. Remember there is no formula to get correct answers, only logic and practice can make you excel in logical reasoning.

These 2 tables are very frequently used to solve problems involving words coding or even number coding.
Let’s discuss some questions based on these 2 tables.
Solved Questions
Q1. In a certain language ‘START’ is coded as UQEMZ and ‘EXCEL’ is coded as GUGZR. How is ‘PANIC’ coded?
Solution: Using table 1:
S is on 19 and its code U is on 21 (+2)
T is on 20 and Q is on 17 (-3)
A is on 1 and E is on 5 (+4)
R is 18 and M is on 13(-5)
T is on 20 and Z is on 26 (+6)
Take a look at the image below; It will be better understood with this:
Q2. In a certain language if ‘CORONA’ is coded as 6 and ‘MALARIA’ is coded as 5 then how is ‘CANCER’ coded?
Solution: Refer table 1:
In this question they have assigned a single number to word. Again you will use hit and trial method to arrive at the logical explanation;
CORONA = C+O+R+O+N+A = 3+15+18+15+14+1 = 66
Now,
MALARIA = M+A+L+A+R+I+A = 13+1+12+1+18+9+1 = 55
So, what they are doing is picking up a single number and giving them as a code.
Since CORONA = 66, IT IS CODED AS 6
MALARIA = 55, IT IS CODED AS 5
So,
CANCER = 3+1+14+3+5+18 = 44, IT WILL BE CODED AS 4.
Q3. In a certain language ‘QUEEN’ is coded as OVCFL. How is ‘KING’ coded?
Solution: Again I am referring table 1.
As I was able to figure it out, that the code was generated by following a sequence of ‘-2,+1,-2,+1,-2″
As shown below in the image;
Now, to find the code for ‘KING’ we will apply the same pattern – ‘-2,+1,-2,+1″
K is at 11 -2 = 9; I
I is at 9 +1 = 10; J
N is at 14 -2 = 12; L
G is at 7 +1 =8; H
Hence, KING IS CODED AS ‘IJLH‘
Q4. In a certain language if ‘JOKER’ is coded as ‘QLPVI’ how ‘CLOWN’ is coded?
Solution: Refer table 2, wherein alphabets are divided in half, as shown below:
J is at 10, so is Q
O is at 12, so is L
K is at 11, so is P
E is at 5, so is V
R is at 9, so is I
Look below image to find the code for CLOWN;
So, CLOWN IS CODED AS ‘XOLDM’.
